The previous article introduced some common settings of the MetaMask wallet. This section introduces the main functions of MateMask as a wallet.
Click the "Buy" button on the front of the wallet to enter the purchase Eth page, as shown in the figure.
As you can see from this page, MetaMask supports two ways to buy Eth, one is from Coinbase and the other is through ShapeShift.
Coinbase is the first bitcoin exchange in the United States to hold a formal license. It can buy bitcoin with US dollars, but it is currently not open to Chinese people, so this article will not introduce it.
ShapeShift is an account-less digital currency exchange platform that allows you to exchange your own virtual currency directly for Eth, as shown.
ShapeShift supports the conversion of BTC, 1ST, BTS and other virtual currencies into Eth. Those who are interested can try it out first, and an article will be introduced later.
Click the "Send" button on the homepage of the wallet to enter the page for sending Eth, as shown in the figure.
Fill in the destination Eth address to be sent to, the amount of Eth to be sent, and click "NEXT".
The so-called account management is actually the management of the Eth address. In addition to an address generated by default, we can also create new accounts or import existing accounts. Click the second icon from the right in the upper right corner of the wallet, as shown in the figure.
The first item is an existing account, the second item is "Create a new account", and the third item is "Import an existing account".
Click "Create Account" in the second row, the wallet does not seem to respond, but in fact, a new account has been created, as shown in the figure.
Click on a different account, and the wallet will switch to the corresponding account.
Click "Import Account" to import other accounts, such as addresses of other wallets, as shown in the figure.
You can choose to import through the "private key" method (the default method), enter the private key in the second input box (remember the private key introduced in Figure 11 earlier), and click "IMPORT".
Here, users are reminded that after logging in to MetaMask, your account is visible to all websites you visit. For your privacy, it is best to log out after using MetaMask. At the same time, it also reminds that MetaMask will log in to a test network by default. To use the real Ethernet network, users need to manually connect to the main network of Ethereum, which will be demonstrated later.
